A cold day in June

We had snow flurries around us off and on as we hiked several short hikes today around Banff.  Bow Falls was not a very tall waterfall but it made up for it in width and power. Hard to capture in a photograph. We also saw our first big horn sheep in Canada.

We visited the hot spring cave that gave Banff its first tourists (and its national park status).  Folks use to come to Banff in the 1880s to soak in the hot sulphur springs as it was believed to have healing properties.  The pools are closed now to protect a snail species that exists no where else on the planet; but you can still visit the cave and we did.

Want to close by saying I have been to Switzerland and Austria and for my money Banff has them beat for beauty. The mountains are more spectacular and the trails and waterfalls are plentiful.  (Just wish it was warmer here). And they speak English - Eh OK!

Custer has now logged 4300 miles on this trip. To celebrate we changed the oil and bought Custer new windshield wipers. Yee Haw.
