We thought of Denise Kanyuh when we took a detour to Vulcan - a small town in Canada that has completely embraced Star Trek due to their name. Besides their Star Trek museum, they have the trek symbol on all their street signs, trek handprints in their sidewalk, and a Bronze statue of Leonary Nimoy. They were celebrating Spock Days when we arrived and gearing up for their big Vul-Con celebration in July.
The Trekcetera museum was small but had some interesting pieces. For those of us who always wondered why 7 of 9 was so "shapely", they displayed the enhancing corset she wore under her costume. I got to hold a phaser and sit in a captain's seat. Engage.
After checking into our hotel, we took a hike to two nearby turquoise lakes. The water was unbelievably clear and the pictures hardly capture what we saw.
Banff looks awesome and we will have more to tell later.
