We started the day at Lake Louise. While the lake is beautiful its reputation and accessibility
gave it a somewhat Disney World feel with lots of tour buses – we did find it a
little quieter once we walked away from the Fairmont – but soon moved up the
road to some somewhat more hidden gems.
The bluest lake (natural) lake I have ever seen is surely
Peyto lake. We had to earn our view
with an uphill trek through some pretty heavy snow – but it was worth it. The cold snow caused us to enjoy our picnic
lunch in the car!
Our final hike of the day was a beautiful walk around Bow
Lake, followed by a trek across dry creek beds and ending with a short uphill trek to see Bow Glacier and Bow Falls. We had snow most of the way out, but the sun came out just as we arrived at the top - and the snow didn't return in force until we hit the parking lot. In the end we both agreed it was one of our all time favorite hikes.
Banff is beautiful!

Who is that beautiful young chick with the smiley gray beard old man?
ReplyDeleteI think that the shadows must really help her looks - whoever she is :).
